After winning a five-woman elimination match at WWE Battleground, Natalya Neidhart will go on to SummerSlam to challenge Naomi for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. She outlasted four other challengers including Becky Lynch, Lana, Tamina Snuka and finally Charlotte Flair to earn her spot in the biggest event of the summer.
Natalya is a former WWE Divas Champion and faced Charlotte for the WWE Women’s Championship in 2016, but has not yet had a one-on-one opportunity for gold since being drafted to the Smackdown Live brand last year. She has been a key member of the women’s division since her debut in 2008, taking part in the creation of the NXT Women’s Championship, the very first women’s Falls Count Anywhere and Money in the Bank ladder matches, and has been a featured star on the E! network’s Total Divas during all seven seasons of its ongoing run.
WWE SummerSlam is live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on August 20th.
