In this episode of the WrestleTalk News, Vince McMahon reportedly “very upset” with Roman Reigns’ Wellness Policy violation, and apparently souring on him as WWE’s top star; and loads of brand split announcements coming out of last night’s Raw.
Latest WWE Brand Split Announcements
Our top story today is Vince McMahon’s backstage reaction to the Roman Reigns suspension scandal, but first – a whole bunch of brand split announcements happened on last night’s episode of Raw.
In the opening segment of the show, Shane McMahon announced Daniel Bryan as the General Manager of Smackdown – which we all kind of knew already as it was leaked by the WWE app last week – and Stephanie revealed Mick Foley as her General Manager for Raw. Which, along with Vince McMahon and Williams Regal gives us…seven authority figures on WWE television. And none of them are John Laurinaitis. People power!
Stephanie also revealed that a new cruiserweight division will begin exclusively on Raw, taking their cue from back when WCW Nitro was three hours long, where the show often opened with cruiserweight matches, letting the episodes hit the ground running. Or should that be, ‘hit the ground running after a 450 corkscrew senton bomb’?
The cruiserweight division was last seen in WWE back in 2007, which was retired with Hornswoggle as its champion.
PWInsider are reporting that the Cruiserweight Classic finale on the 4th September will likely crown the new division’s champion, while PWTorch claim the tournament’s competitors Kota Ibushi and Gran Metalik have already signed deals with WWE. Many are speculating that they’ll skip NXT completely and go straight to the main roster for Raw’s new Cruiserweight division. There’s also a lot of talk that WWE want to sign more of the Cruiserweight Classic competitors. All of whom should be Zack Sabre Jr. So he can put arm bars on everyone.
