Brock Lesnar is making his surprise return against Mark Hunt at UFC 200 – so here’s an easy top 5 things you need to know about Brock’s MMA career for professional wrestling fans who want to impress their friends down the pub.
5. Lesnar Leaving
Brock Lesnar retired from MMA back in December 2011 after losing to Alaistair Overeem at UFC 141 by technical knockout in the first round. Brock blamed it on his struggles with Diver…divertac…a digestive condition that I can’t spell, and said: “tonight was the last time you’ll see me in the octagon.”
I’m not going to correct him.
4. Lesnar Debut
Lesnar first debuted in the UFC in February 2008 at their UFC 81: Breaking Point event, losing to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir. But that wasn’t Brock’s first competitive fight.
Brock’s first bout was a 69 second win over Min Soo Kim at the Japanese MMA promotion Hero’s in June 2007. Brock has always been big in Japan… the average male height is 5ft 7.
3. Dana White Fake Comments
Dana White is the president of the UFC and he upset a lot of wrestling fans last year when he called the great sport (entertainment) “fake shit” on Twitter. Seth ‘Crossfit Jesus’ Rollins responded with:
Guys, cut Dana White some slack. I mean, he’s had a million matches, so his opinion is super valid and should be taken as gospel.
And now Dana’s had to get professional wrestler Brock Lesnar in to promote the biggest PPV in his company’s history – UFC 200. Karma’s a Brock.
