There is no single list that will agree on who the best pro wrestler of all time might be. After all, wrestling has been around a while. It’s been around since the 19th century! Believe it or not, professional wrestlers known as “Edward the Steel Eater” or “Gustave the Bone Wrecker” operated as far back as the 1830s in France. Even the pro wrestling we all know and love dates back to the 1950s. From WWWF to WWF to WWE, pro wrestling has more than six decades of awesome champions.
One of the pressing issues that stands out when we talk about the best of the best is the matter of how we rank our wrestling icons. Was it the most charismatic one? Favorite of the fans? Best performer? Best athlete? Or maybe the one that had all that with the addition of an elusive “it factor”.

The funny thing is, the lists you can see all over the ‘net are lists of top 50 or top 20; it’s so difficult to narrow the choice down to the top 10, so how can we hope to give you the single best pro wrestler of all time?

Best Pro Wrestlers of All-Time
- Randy “Macho Man” Savage
He was truly something else. Whatever it is that you are looking for in a wrestler, Randy had it. He was simply one of the best in the ring. He could work the crowd with that microphone. He had feuded with Hulk Hogan, and was gracefully holding down the fort while Hulkster was out there making his movies.
Savage was someone you simply had to watch. He soaked in the attention of audiences whether he was in the ring or doing the promo. Savage held the WWE Championship belt twice, but more important than all his titles was the fact that he could simply step into the ring and steal the show. Just remember how he overshadowed Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant in front of 90,000+ fans at WrestleMania 3.
- Dusty Rhodes
This guy was indeed the ‘American Dream’. It’s not common knowledge that this champion started his career as a heel teaming up with Dick Murdoch. They split up, eventually, as Rhodes started his ascent as a heroic figure. Presenting himself as a common man was enough to draw crowds to his side. He was a magnet for so many viewers, regardless of age or race (which was a tough feat to achieve back in his day). Facing the big heel, Ric Flair also accounted for Dusty’s fame.
But more than his achievements in the ring, Rhodes was noted for his activities in the industry. He was a huge part of NXT, coaching many future stars. His legacy is still lasting, making him one of the very best wrestlers of all time.
- The Undertaker
Believe it or not, The Undertaker is still in the biz, going strong after more than three decades in pro wrestling. This guy was actually given the title of the best of all time by media and fellow wrestlers alike. Sticking with McMahon for all these years, he’s one of the staunchest wrestlers in the biz.

One of the best features of Mark Callaway’s characters is that Mark was able to adapt. His persona of a dead guy who happens to be an undertaker changed over the years, always staying relevant.
His career is still getting bigger by the year, and although the streak isn’t alive, 21 consecutive victories at WrestleMania is quite the feat.
Nick was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and lived there until the age of 18, when he decided to pack his flack jacket and move to New York City.
