Paul Heyman was a recent guest on Chael Sonnen’s podcast, and the subject of a potential of Lesnar-Austin match happening at WrestleMania came up.
Heyman confirmed an earlier report and said he did legitimately catch Austin off-guard when he asked him about the match, and Austin cut a promo because he believes it’s something real about his “Stone Cold” character. Heyman said there’s no way he could have done the show and not asked about it, even though there is “zero chance” the match happens.
Sonnen did ask Heyman if this was a work; saying Wrestlemania 32 is in Texas and Austin has to involved in some form, and Heyman said he hopes so. Heyman says the question on the podcast for selfish reasons, so he’s really only interested in Austin facing Lesnar, not someone else. Heyman responded by saying if this was a work, Austin would have played up the rumors, but since he squashed them on his own podcast the match won’t happen.
