Following John Cena’s match with Brock Lesnar this weekend at Night of Champions, it’s possible the 15-time world champion could be entering a program with Rusev. Rusev, alongside his Russian counterpart Lana, were placed in the final segment of last night’s go-home episode of Monday Night Raw, brawling with the pro-America, former Olympian Mark Henry. The belief is that the segment was less about Henry and Rusev’s match this weekend, and more about setting the foreign heel up as the next major challenge for John Cena.
As of now this is still just an unconfirmed rumor, as are conflicting reports that Cena could be taking some time off following a likely loss to Brock this Sunday on PPV.
KILLAM: I hate this idea. I disliked Rusev winning at SummerSlam because I thought the moment was right for Swagger, and I have no investment in Henry beating him at NOC because of that result. Cena does not need to be moved from the title picture to a midcard feud with a guy like Rusev. He would be better utilized by going home, taking some time to rest up and recover, and then coming back in early 2015 to begin the road to WrestleMania. If you want to do Cena/Rusev then, fine. But I’m going to have a hard time believing that Cena gives a **** about ‘Murica after getting destroyed by Lesnar twice.
