Michael Cole introduces the Hall of Fame panel to discuss the WWE Championship match at Night of Champions, and Shawn Michaels says John Cena’s chances aren’t good. He says it might be Cena’s time to hang it up, but Hulk Hogan says Cena can still go, although Ric Flair says he agrees with HBK. He says he thinks the world of Cena, then they argue over Cena having what it takes to beat Brock until Cena cuts them off. He talks about the legends before him, but he says Summerslam was an ass kicking, and HBK was right in saying fights like that change people. Cena says he is changed and he will bring the fight, and they need to look at him and believe him, because he is going to beat Brock’s ass at Night of Champions.
BP: That was honestly pointless. They still don’t know what to do with Flair so they do this, and I don’t believe Cena at all. He didn’t sell me on why he should get a rematch, so hopefully something happens with his match tonight, or Heyman does something brilliant again like usual.
Rusev (w/ Lana) vs Jack Swagger
Rusev punches Swagger a few times before Swagger whips him and throws an elbow, which knocks Rusev outside, then Rusev runs back in and Swagger knocks him down. He goes right for a Patriot Lock but Rusev grabs the ropes and rolls outside, then Swagger follows and slams him into the commentary table. Swagger sends him into the apron before clotheslining him in the corner, then he slams his head into the turnbuckles but Rusev knocks him outside. We get back from a break to see Swagger hit a few clotheslines, then he goes for a Swagger Bomb but Rusev gets a foot up.
Swagger blocks the kick and puts him in a Patriot Lock, but Rusev gets to the ropes, then he rolls outside and slams Swagger into the apron. Rusev stomps Swagger and goes for the Accolade but Swagger counters with the Patriot Lock, then Rusev blocks it so Swagger goes for a rollup. Rusev kicks out and kicks him into the corner, then he taunts Swagger but Swagger screams ‘We The People!’ back at him. Rusev stomps him a few times and kicks him in the ribs, then he ignores the ref’s orders and repeatedly stomps him until the ref rings the bell and says Swagger can’t continue.
Winner (by TKO) – Rusev
