WWE has officially stripped Bad News Barrett of the Intercontinental Championship, and will host a battle royal at next month's WWE Battleground PPV to crown a new champion.
Barrett was injured at last week's WWE Smackdown taping, taken out of action with a severe shoulder injury. He was removed from the Money in the Bank ladder match on Sunday night – a match he was considered a favorite to win – prior the announcement being made on Monday Night Raw that the championship would be vacated. At this point we still don't know how long Barrett will be out of action, but with this breaking news you can assume it will be at least a few months.
Cesaro, Kofi Kingston and the Great Khali have been confirmed for the WWE Battleground battle royal.
