PWInsider.com is reporting that Ric Flair told Ring of Honor President Cary Silkin that he would NOT appear as the special ring enforcer for the ROH Title bout he was advertised to appear with prior to last night’s event in NYC.
Originally, Flair was scheduled to appear as the special guest referee for the ROH Title match, but he backed out of that and was then scheduled to appear as the special ring enforcer for the bout instead. It’s being reported that Flair actually raised his voice to Silkin when informing him that he would not appear as the enforcer, and this was said to have upset many in the locker room as it came across as Flair being selfish and not putting the best interests of the company ahead of his own personal needs.
It apparently shocked many in the backstage area to see Flair trying to leave the arena, while claiming that he was only there to sign autographs, cut a promo, and then leave. Originally, Flair had a few spots that he was supposed to be involved in during the main event of the show, but instead he cut his promo and then left.
Flair still has 3 appearances left on his current deal with ROH and it remains to be seen where the company will go with him from here on out.
