Cornette On Bischoff’s Lies, Ring Roasts 3, JWoww, ROH

MondayNightMayhem.com sent along the following:

Jim Cornette interview highlights courtesy of The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson from New Jersey:

The preparations he has gone through to get himself ready for being roasted by his colleagues & peers in the wrestling industry this Friday night at "Ring Roasts III" (as part of the Legends of the Ring weekend in Monroe, NJ): "I’ve been doing it for 30 years (the preparations), because that’s how long I’ve known some of these guys. I’m going to have a couple of good Dutch Mantel stories Friday night at the roast, but I’ve know some of these guys for more than 30 years, so I don’t know what they are going to say about me. I don’t know how they are going to insult me, or rake me over the coals, or tribute me…which is after all what they should be doing. So I’m basically going to make my observations on what they say and tell stories about them from all the time I’ve known them."

Since transitioning into Ring of Honor, what he feels is the importance of interacting with his fans, especially those this attending this weekend’s "Ring Roasts III" & Legends of the Ring: "Hopefully we’re not gonna have a riot, but I’ve been in a riot with Bobby Eaton & Dennis Condrey. I’ll take them, and the rest of the room is f*cked. I really enjoy it, because of the interaction with the fans right now (Ring of Honor fans & the Northeast fans in general, along with the folks that go to the Fan Fests & Legends Conventions). They’re the ones that keep us in business now if we all don’t want to suffer under of the tyranny of corporate wrestling. At the Ring of Honor shows, I set up a table, sell the books & DVD’s, and we have had a great response from the fans, and we sold thousands of The Midnight Express books. But these are the folks that are coming to support Ring of Honor & support wrestling and what we’re doing in general, so I enjoy that. Plus when I go to these cool fan fests, people bring me cool merchandise, and we trade, and I add stuff to my collection. I’m a wrestling fan; if I had to show up just to take the money, I wouldn’t be at three-quarters of the places I’m at now."

How Ring of Honor has progressed & evolved in the past year since he made his return and since Nigel McGuiness (Desmond Wolfe) & Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan) left the company: "Everyone always says when the big stars leave, the sky is falling, I believe the term has been lately. Basically Nigel & Bryan Danielson both left at the same time, but that created two top spots that had to be filled in the company. Where was Davey Richards? Tyler Black was at the top, but stepped in and became the man for a year. Jerry Jarrett once told that you can’t make a new star/superstar unless the other superstar gets out of the way and lets you do it. After a while, anybody, no matter how great they are, has to move on from a company, whether it be a lateral move or an upward move, or whatever for the fans of that particular promotion. How can I miss you if you won’t go away? When those guys go on to bigger & better things, it also opens up the chance for the young guys that are hungry and have the ability to be noticed for the stars they are. Roderick Strong has prospered, and Christopher Daniels has come back, and Homicide has come back. So as great as one individual wrestler is, there’s so many other chances for guys to be stars that somebody takes that spot when he moves on."

Whether he believes Eric Bischoff was "pulling the wool" over the fans’ eyes on Hulk Hogan’s health status leading into this past Sunday night’s Bound For Glory, along with his thoughts on TNA giving a reported $15,000 to J-Woww (from MTV’s Jersey Shore) to appear on this week’s iMPACT: "First, I have to say that it’s not the wool that Eric Bischoff has pulled over the wrestling fan’s eyes, it’s his b*lls that he teabags them with once again. Secondly, I gotta be perfectly honest: I completely forgot that their Pay-Per-View even happened, and haven’t even had time to read on the Internet about what it is they exactly did other than that they are going to get J-Woww $15,000 to come to iMPACT. So whatever happened at Bound for Glory, they’re giving J-Woww from ‘Jersey Shore’ about five times as much money to show up in one night as they’ve given any of their homegrown wrestlers that have bled, and sweat, and paid the price for the past four or five years like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels (who they let go), Beer Money, and probably even Matt Morgan, and a few other people like that, they’re giving it to a J-Woww from ‘Jersey Shore.’ That tells me all I need to know about Bound for Glory."

How the ending of TNA’s Bound For Glory Pay-Per-View compared with the entire flow of Ring of Honor’s latest iPPV offering (Glory By Honor IX): "It was very complicated, and as a result of those people coming out (Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Jeff Jarrett), and turning, and doing this, and doing that, I forgot who actually won the match, because no one gave a s**t after all that was over with. But on the Ring of Honor Pay-Per-View from New York, I could tell you that Roderick Strong defeated Tyler Black for the ROH World Championship. I could tell you that The Kings of Wrestling beat Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin (Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team) in the "Dream Tag Team Match." I can tell you that El Generico & Colt Cabana defeated Kevin Steen & Steve Corino. I can tell you that Christopher Daniels defeated Austin Aries, because we had a wrestling show, and they had a soap opera with weapons, and that is the difference, I think, between Ring of Honor & every other wrestling promotion out there today."
