WWE Undisputed Champion John Cena has revived his popular Southpaw Regional Wrestling character, Lance Catamaran.
For those unfamiliar, Southpaw Regional Wrestling was a funny WWE web series that parodied 1980s southern wrestling shows. It came out in 2017 and aired on WWE’s official YouTube channel. Stars like John Cena, Chris Jericho, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Fandango, Renee Paquette, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and more took part in the show.
Cena played Lance Catamaran, an awkward news anchor and lead commentator. He acted completely serious, which made the role even funnier. He usually appeared with his co-host Chett Chetterfield, played by former WWE Superstar Fandango, now known as JDC in TNA.
Now that Cena is fully focused on Hollywood, he stars in the upcoming movie Heads of State. In the movie, he plays the role of President of the United States. The cast also includes Idris Elba as the Prime Minister of the UK and Priyanka Chopra Jonas as a fearless agent.
In a recent ad for the movie, Cena’s movie character gets interrupted by Lance Catamaran, who appears and asks questions with his usual straight-faced delivery. Cena shared the parody of their hilarious encounter on his Twitter/X account.
Fans loved Southpaw Regional Wrestling when it first aired for its humor and fresh take on WWE stars. The show ran for two seasons with a total of 10 episodes.

John Cena joined Complex GOAT Talk with Idris Elba to promote their new movie. When asked to name the greatest wrestler-turned-actor of all time, Cena gave credit to former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dave Bautista.
“I’m gonna give respect where respect is earned, Dave Bautista,” John Cena said. “The dude has range. And now has like transformed his whole body. So the stuff he’s about to do, look out for Dave Bautista. The stuff he’s already done is incredible. But as far as like, wrestler turned actor with the range, you know me, I’m just dick jokes, that’s it. Dave’s got range.”
