TNA iMPACT Results
We get a recap of last week’s iMPACT that saw John Skylar lose his cool on Mustafa Ali, as well as the main event Champions Challenge featuring TNA World Champion Trick Williams and more.
Say his name and he appears…
Joe Hendry kicks off the night. Hendry begins by thanking Pittsburgh fans. He says fans have always had his back and he appreciates it. Hendry acknowledges his loss against “someone who doesn’t even work here.” He says it would’ve been easy for him to pack his bags and leave but Trick Williams has something “that belongs to every single one one of you.” The crowd stars chanting “TNA, TNA.”
Hendry recaps his road to winning the TNA World Championship. He recalls facing Randy Orton in front of 70,000 people at WrestleMania. Hendry says he’s going to ask for something from fans. He says he needs TNA fans for his redemption. Hendry vows to bring back the TNA World Championship at Slammiversary. The commentary team then hypes up Hendry versus Williams for the world title at the July 20 PPV event.
Killer Kelly promo
We get another Killer Kelly promo. Kelly recalls her history with TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich. She says MK-Ultra were unbreakable. Kelly hypes up tonight’s Knockouts Battle Royal. She tells the participants to work hard because she’ll be waiting for them after taking the world title from Masha Slamovich.
Zachary Wentz (w/ Trey Miguel) vs. Ryan Nemeth (w/ Nic Nemeth)
- The finish of the match saw Wentz plant Nemeth with a Spiral Tap for the win.
Winner: Zachary Wentz
After the match, the Nemeths picked up their tag team titles and teased attacking The Rascalz only to mock the fans.
Grade: B-
A quick but solid match that saw Wentz make a rare singles outing against the one-half of the TNA World Tag Team Champions in Ryan Nemeth. The Nemeths will be in action at Slammiversary in a four-way tag team match so that’ll be an interesting watch.
Trick Williams backstage interview
Trick Williams hypes up his title defense at Slammiversary. Williams asks Gia Miller if she thinks he doesn’t look ready. He stops her in the middle and says that was the “trick question.” Trick puts over Hendry for “still having heart” but says he has to kick it out. The TNA World Champion then focuses his attention on this week’s TNA iMPACT main event featuring Mike Santana and AJ Francis in a Street Fight. He says his “good friend” AJ Francis will beat Santana.
Arianna Grace hijacks Masha Slamovich’s interview
TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich talks about her title defense next week against Killer Kelly. Masha invites her former tag team partner to face her in a Chain Match. NXT’s Arianna Grace shows up with a proposal of her own. She seems pretty excited to show Masha what’s she’s got in store for the champion.
Knockouts Battle Royal
The finish of the match saw Ash By Elegance eliminate both Indi Hartwell and Tasha Slamovich to win the battle royal and get a future shot at the Knockouts World Championship.
Winner: Ash By Elegance
After the match, Masha Slamovich shows up to confront her challenger but NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne interrupts the confrontation. Are we getting a champion versus champion match-up somewhere down the line?
Grade: None
This writer doesn’t rate battle royals at all due to the over-the-top action (pun very much intended). As for the post-match moment, I am is intrigued to see where Jacy Jayne’s appearance leads next in TNA.
Jake Something promo
Jake Something talks about his return last week to save Tommy Dreamer for Mance Warner. Something says he’s ready to unleash his wrath on Warner before putting TNA International Champion Steve Maclin no notice. The champion shows up to congratulate Something on his return to TNA iMPACT.
TNA injury report
We learn from the commentary team that Elijah has undergone successful surgery and is on the road to recovery. He last competed live in a six-man tag team match on the June 17 episode of NXT. His most recent TNA match was the Champions Challenge main event, which aired last Thursday.
Mustafa Ali vs. John Skylar – Call to Arms match
- The finish of the match saw Ali hit Skylar with a 450 splash for the win.
Winner: Mustafa Ali
After the match, Ali goes out and grabs a chair but Jason Hotch tries to talk some sense into him. Ali puts the chair down only to shove Hotch into the post. Ali is about to hit Skylar with a chair but Tasha Steelz gets in the way. Ali hesitates for a moment but quickly snaps out of it. He’s about to take out Steelz with the chair but stops at the sound of an entrance theme.
It’s Cedric Alexander. Cedric walks down to the ring. The commentary team notes that Steelz may have been talking to Cedric. Alexander tries to talk some sense into Ali bue he tries to leave with Steelz. Cedric grabs Tasha’s hand. Ali tries to stand up to Cedric but Hotch and Skylar stand in his way. A frustrated Ali then exits the ring as Cedric’s music plays to close out the segment.
Grade: A-
A great back-and-forth match between Ali and Skylar but the bigger story to come out was Cedric Alexander’s TNA arrival. This writer has fond memories of watching Ali and Cedric tearing it down at WWE 205 Live. Slammiversary seems to be the perfect event to watch the duo run it back.
The System backstage promo
Moose talks about his X-Division Championship match against Leon Slater at Slammiversary. Matt Cardona shows up and tries to talk to Brian Myers. Eddie Edwards gets in Cardona’s face and asks if he’s down to facing him next week on TNA iMPACT. The System then leaves Cardona as we get another face-off between the former Belt Collector and Myers.
The Hardys vs. The Northern Armory (w/ Eric Young)
- The finish of the match saw Jeff plant Judas Icarus with a Swanton Bomb for the win.
Winners: The Hardys
After the match, Jeff grabs a mic and calls out Leon Slater. The Hardys put over Slater as the next and youngest TNA X Division Champion. Slater says he’s doing this for his mom, sister and to make Matt and Jeff proud. He says he’ll be on commentary to watch Moose in action next on TNA iMPACT.
Grade: B-
A fun tag team match that gave Judas Icarus and Travis Williams the opportunity to showcase their talents against the legendary Hardys. Eric Young plays maniac like no other. The post-match promo with Hardys and Slater was sweet.
Moose vs. Shane Sabre vs. Jake Painter
- The finish of the match saw Moose hit Jake with a spear for the win.
Winner: Moose
After the match, Moose begins taunting Slater by assaulting Jake. Slater gets in the ring and we get a staring contest between the TNA X-Division Champion and the challenger. The fans are behind Slater. This match is going to awesome.
Grade: B+
The right way to build hype for Moose vs. Leon Slater at Slammiversary. Moose’s X-Division run has been nothing short of incredible. Can he become the longest-reigning X-Division Champion at Slammiversary, or will Slater make history as the youngest X-Division Champion in the title’s rich history? It remains to be seen.
Mike Santana vs. AJ Francis – Street Fight
- The finish of the match saw Mike Santana hit a discus clothesline for the win.
Winner: Mike Santana
After the match, Santana cuts an impassioned promo. Santana says he’s sweat, clawed and bleed to be where he’s at today. He says they don’t call him the standard of TNA for nothing. He asks Santino to insert him in the TNA World Championship match between Joe Hendry and Trick Williams at Slammiversary. Will TNA’s Director of Authority make it official?
Grade: A+
AJ Francis hit a god damn Styles Clash. As Tom Hannifan put it, that was an act of sacrilege by Francis. If this writer does a Best TNA iMPACT matches of 2025, this match is definitely going on that list. Santana’s momentum continues to rise with a huge win over Francis, who was surprisingly impressive tonight.
Overall Grade: A-
This show was far better than the TNA iMPACT 23rd anniversary episode we got last week. From Joe Hendry’s opening promo to Cedric Alexander’s surprise debut to the violent main event Street Fight, tonight’s episode most certainly deserves the A- grade. Slammiversary is shaping up to be a stacked pay-per-view, and this writer is all for it.
