TNA Once Cancelled A TV Taping Due To Double Digit Attendance

Trey Miguel recalled that TNA once canceled a TV taping due to extremely low attendance.

TNA Wrestling has seen a surge in popularity in recent months, thanks to its talented roster and growing fanbase. However, not long ago, the company struggled with attendance. The Rascalz’s Trey Miguel recently reflected on this contrast while reacting to a clip from TNA Under Siege, which took place last Friday at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

Miguel took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and responded to the impressive fan attendance at the TNA Under Siege. He revealed a time when he wrestled Matthew Rehwoldt (formerly known as Aiden English) in front of fewer than 90 fans. The event was supposed to be a TV taping, but the low attendance caused it to become an untaped show strictly for the live audience.

Zachary Wentz also expressed his gratitude for TNA’s rise in popularity

While Miguel didn’t specify which show he referred to, records on Cagematch show he has faced Matthew Rehwoldt three times in TNA: once in a singles match, once in a mixed tag team match, and once in the Gauntlet for the Gold match. All three of these events happened between 2021-2022. However, each listing shows an air date, meaning it’s likely that there’s no record of the untaped show available.

Trey Miguel’s tag team partner, Zachary Wentz, also reacted to the clip. Wentz expressed his appreciation for the company’s growth, writing, “Yall really don’t know how much these sellouts mean to me. From the crowds we had when I first signed in 2018 to the crowds we have now is absolutely incredible and I am so proud of this team. #TNAUnderSiege”

TNA’s recent partnership with WWE NXT has also played a role in boosting interest. The collaboration has brought fans dream matches featuring stars from both brands. Last month the company had a huge moment when, TNA World Champion Joe Hendry wrestled Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41, marking a major moment in both company history.
