Charlotte Flair issued an apology… but not for the reason you might think.
Last week, Flair and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton were involved in a promo segment on SmackDown that went off-script. The pair traded insults, a few of which went below the belt. This included Stratton calling out Flair’s recent (and third) divorce with an “0-3” dig, and Flair claiming Stratton’s boyfriend, Ludwig Kaiser, was “in her DMs.”
Flair has since reacted to the segment, claiming she was “blindsided” by having her personal affairs thrown in her face on television. Flair also had a bit of fun with it by issuing a “sincere” apology… for claiming the crowd was intelligent.
“After being blindsided by my personal trauma on live television, my character said something on-air that was not true, and I’d like to take this opportunity to clear the air,” Charlotte Flair wrote on Twitter/X. “I should have NEVER called the Chicago fans smart. I sincerely apologize.”

How did Tiffany Stratton respond to her segment with Charlotte Flair?
Stratton was a recent guest on The Babyfaces Podcast, who asked about last week’s SmackDown segment. Stratton chose her words very carefully and said she was standing up for herself, and it was live TV.
“I think being so new into this business, being so new as champion, I don’t think she really expected me to stand up to her,” Tiffany Stratton said. “And I don’t think she expected me to, I guess, almost clap back. And I think I kind of — look, all I have to say is it’s live TV. Stakes are high.
“We’re going into WrestleMania. I have the title. I want to keep the title, and I’m gonna pull out every stop that I can. People want to see our match. And I think that we did a very good job of getting people wanting to see our match and invested in our story, and now I’m ready to put on the best women’s match ever, and I’m ready to go to war.”
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), there was heat on both Flair and Stratton. However, there were no further issues backstage. It was noted that many people at the following RAW taping had a good laugh due to Ludwig Kaiser leaning into the situation and playfully responding to Flair’s claim online.
