Anthony Greene made the most of his tenure in WWE and learned quite a bit from his mentors.
Greene recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard about his run in WWE. Greene was known as “August Grey” between October 2020 and June 2021. Grey was one of the several new names brought in to boost the 205 Live brand, but WWE made several cuts that involved the 205 roster, and later cancelled the show.
Greene said that his time in WWE was brief, but he doesn’t have any bad memories about his tenure. He said WWE gave him the best education he could get (in pro wrestling terms) and shared a few lessons that he still uses to this day.
“I don’t really have any negative memories there. It is the Harvard of pro wrestling training. I feel like, if you go there and you don’t learn something, that’s 100% your fault. I got to train under Scotty 2 Hotty, Brian Kendrick, Sonjay Dutt, and Ace Steel. Those were my main four coaches while I was there,” Anthony Greene explained. “Steve Corino was probably my main mentor. And then, in-ring, my two mentors were Ariya Daivari and Tony Nese.”

Greene says wrestling Daivari and Nese really helped him get ready to be a “TV wrestler.”
“Those were guys that were under pressure, wrestling on Monday Night Raw, live TV. [They’re] guys that wrestled on pay-per-views. Tony Nese won the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania,” he continued. “They taught me about timing, replays, crash to break, and how to do X, Y, and Z, and really got me prepared for if and when my time on NXT was meant to happen or my call up to Monday Night Raw or SmackDown was meant to happen. Wrestling them on a taped 205 Live got me comfortable. And got me prepared for whatever would have came next.”
Since being released by WWE, Anthony Greene went on to work for Pro Wrestling NOAH, where he won the GHC Tag Team Championship. He recently made his debut for MLW and continues to be a regular presence on the New England indie scene.
