“Stone Cold” Steve Austin thinks about returning to wrestling, but he says it’s a young man’s game.
WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin retired from the ring in 2003, but he continued to make appearances over the years. He came out of retirement for a No Holds Barred match against Kevin Owens at WWE WrestleMania 38. Austin did not make an appearance at WrestleMania, despite a star-studded main event that included run-ins from The Rock, John Cena, and The Undertaker.
Speaking on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, Steve Austin was asked whether he gets the itch to come back and wrestle.
“Man, like [GFI Nevada teammate Zack Kisman], we’re sitting here, and he’s been racing a lot longer than I have,” Steve Austin said. “But I wanna race for many, many more years, and I will. But that wrestling game, that’s a young man’s game. I did what I could, had some injuries and I hung it up. I did that little thing with Kevin Owens a while back.
“Now it’s been two years since then. I’m very into reality. I go out there and do something….To answer your question, I think about it every now and then. But to go out to try and do it and be who I was, when you were an absolute machine, and I considered myself a professional athlete because that’s what I was, I worked at the highest level. That’s a rough-ass job, and it’s a young man’s job.”
