AEW American Champion MJF had a memorable outing at RevPro‘s Summer Sizzler event on August 11.
MJF defended his title against Michael Oku at the event, which was held at York Hall in London, England. The champion made his entrance and cut a pre-match promo in which he quoted Hulk Hogan’s classic theme song.
“I am a real American, I fight for the rights of every man. I am a real American, I fight for what’s right.”
MJF was fittingly wearing yellow trunks in another nod to Hogan. He then battled Oku in a hard-fought bout. Luke Jacobs interfered and laid both men out. The AEW star ultimately emerged victorious. After the bell, he was about to attack Amira, but Will Ospreay ran in for the save. The surprise appearance marked Ospreay’s return to RevPro.
Ospreay is set to challenge MJF for the AEW American Championship at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. After MJF ran away from him at RevPro Summer Sizzler, Ospreay cut a promo about their match and vowed to do whatever it took to beat him.
MJF previously beat Ospreay to win the AEW International Championship. He then threw it in the trash, and he has been carrying the AEW American Championship ever since.
