Record sparked plenty of buzz by reporting that Stephanie Vaquer had offers from AEW and WWE. A new report provides an update.
Stephanie Vaquer competed at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where she lost the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship to Mercedes Moné. Even in defeat, Vaquer delivered a performance that led to some fans hoping to see her with with AEW or WWE.
Luchablog reports that, per a source, Stephanie Vaquer is still under contract to CMLL, and she has significant time left on the deal. However, the report notes that the length of the contract is “not expected to matter much.” Luchablog notes that CMLL has let talent out of contracts before when they have a big offer from someone in the United States, as long as they are kept in the loop.
The report states that Vaquer has a lot of loyalty towards CMLL, but WWE and AEW would likely be able to pay more than CMLL. Per Luchablog, Vaquer has not confirmed the story or given any indication of her preference.
Vaquer is scheduled to defend her title at the CMLL x NJPW FantasticaMania US event on July 13.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
