The NWA partnered with Fight The World Wrestling for their latest event, showing their intent for the future.
The company put on their latest show alongside FTW, seeing the two promotions clashing in a huge event. NWA vs FTW Showdown brings the top names for NWA and FTW. The event took place on June 21st at the Richardson Community Center in Lake City, Florida.
NWA National Champion Thom Latimer (TNA’s Bram) defended his championship against The Real Drago. Drago is a top contender in the FTW promotion, so this match embodied what the event was all about.
They also had a TNA title involved, which shows the incredible reach NWA vs FTW Showdown had. AJ Francis clashed with Alex Misery in one of the top matches on the card. He retained his TNA Digital Media Championship in the process.
NWA’s Chief Operating Officer Joe Galli commented on the NWA’s expansion in cross-promotional events. In a press release on their website, Galli said that they are “dedicated” in this expansion. He wants to use it to help build up young stars and continue the tradition of the NWA.
“The NWA is dedicated to expanding its reach by partnering with top independent promotions in pro wrestling hotbeds across the country and around the world. This is part of a concerted effort to not only pay homage to the history, legacy, and tradition of the National Wrestling Alliance. But also bring our fans the most exciting in-ring action and widest array of established and up-and-coming talents in pro wrestling today.”
Billy Corgan has been trying to return to the territory system in recent years. They have added promotions like Joe Cazana Promotions and Kross Fire Wrestling onto their roster of companies.
