Tony Khan has confidence that Penta El Zero Miedo will re-sign with AEW, according to a new report.
Lucha Libre Online recently reported that Penta’s deal is set to expire in August or September, and WWE is interested in him. Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone then wrote that AEW adjusted terms for some of their multi-year deals, meaning Penta’s deal could be coming up, as he may be in an option year.
In an update, Dave Meltzer addressed the situation in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He wrote that Tony Khan indicated his confidence that the company would bring Penta back.
Meltzer also noted that “there was some unhappiness” with Penta regarding his inability to compete on AEW events that had CMLL wrestlers, due to his past ties with AAA. However, Meltzer noted that these issues seem to be rectified, at least to some degree. (H/t Josh Nason of F4WOnline.com)
Penta El Zero Miedo has been with AEW since 2019. He is a former AEW World Tag Team Champion and World Trios Champion. He has also held the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Before he came to AEW, Penta held the IMPACT World Championship, and he also held titles in AAA, among other promotions.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
