Mercedes Moné Wins TBS Title, Kris Statlander Turns On Willow Nightingale At AEW Double Or Nothing

Mercedes Moné scored a big victory in her return to the ring, as she won the TBS Championship at AEW Double or Nothing.

At AEW Double or Nothing, Mercedes Moné made her AEW in-ring debut. She challenged Willow Nightingale for the TBS Championship. This marked Moné’s first match since May 2023, as she suffered a severe ankle injury against Nightingale at NJPW Resurgence.

Moné showed what “The CEO” was all about, as she had not missed a step despite her lengthy absence. Perhaps fueled by a desire for revenge, she targeted Willow’s ankle throughout the bout. Willow persevered and overpowered Mercedes. She nearly scored the win with a powerbomb, but mistimed interference from Stokely Hathaway and Kris Statlander distracted the referee.

In the end, Mercedes hit the Moné-maker for the win and captured the title.

After the match, Kris Statander seemingly consoled Nightingale and comforted her. Stokely Hathaway berated Willow, and Statlander shoved him down. But it was all a ruse, as Statlander blindsided Nightingale and attacked her while Hathaway smiled.

Here’s how the match broke down, courtesy of our play-by-play coverage:

Moné wrenches Willow in an abdominal stretch. Willow transitions into an ankle lock. She drops Moné with a pounce. Willow keeps rolling and gets a two-count with a spinebuster. She slams Moné to the mat and hits a Fisherman suplex.

Moné drops Nightingale with a powerbomb. Willow fires up with a knee-breaker on the apron. She goes for the cannonball, but Moné evades it. Moné hits a meteora. Hathaway and Statlander distract the referee, and Willow hits a powerbomb. Moné locks in the Banks Statement, but Willow reaches the ropes. She hits the Moné Maker for the win.
