Thunder Rosa is set for her return to the independent scene next month.
The former AEW Women’s Champion has been announced for CineMania on February 4 in McAllen, Texas.
Thunder Rosa had been sidelined with a back injury for more than a year. She recently made her AEW in-ring return, teaming with Abadon to defeat Julia Hart & Skye Blue at AEW Collision: Holiday Bash on December 23, 2023.
Thunder Rosa’s last match outside of AEW took place at Republic Of Lucha’s Midsommar event in June 2022. There, she teamed with her son, Anakin Rosa, to defeat Black Danger and Viva Van.
D Vargas (@DNCDigital) spoke to Thunder Rosa on behalf of Combat Cult ahead of the appearance, and she offered the following comments:
“I will always love independent wrestling and all the women working hard to make a name for themselves like I did. I’m a prize fighter and I’m always ready because wrestling makes me hard.”

“Cine El Rey is a historical entertainment venue in McAllen, Texas. It is regarded as being the “best venue in south Texas.” It was built by Interstate in 1948, under the design of W.E. Crawford. Cine El Rey served McAllen’s Hispanic community for 40 years before closing down in 1988. Many of Mexico’s greatest performers made personal appearances on its stage. Cine El Rey was later restored in 2001, now serving the newly revitalized Downtown District.”
