Cody Rhodes scored a major victory on the January 8 episode of WWE RAW.
On Monday night, Cody Rhodes’ rivalry with Shinsuke Nakamura reached an apparent conclusion, as the two stars headlined the show and clashed in a Street Fight. Ahead of the match, Nakamura blindsided Rhodes during an interview backstage as the bad blood reached a boiling point.
The Street Fight stipulation freed up the competitors to bring weapons into the match, and nunchucks and a kendo stick came into play. Much to the fans’ delight, Rhodes brought out a table, though Nakamura put him through it.
Nakamura and Rhodes weren’t the only ones impacted by the chaos. When Nakamura went to spit poison mist at Rhodes, he accidentally hit the timekeeper. Rhodes checked on the timekeeper, and the distraction helped Nakamura take control anyway.
The battle continued, and Cody paid tribute to his father, Dusty Rhodes, with the Bionic Elbow. He then clinched the win by slamming Shinsuke through a table and pinning him with the Crossrhodes.
This marks Cody’s second televised win over Nakamura since December. He previously defeated Nakamura via disqualification on the December 11 episode of WWE RAW.
