WWE addresses Kevin Dunn‘s departure backstage.
Ahead of WWE RAW on January 1, a talent meeting was held by WWE President Nick Khan to address Kevin Dunn’s departure from the company. According to PWInsider, Khan offered praise for Dunn as he “led with strength” and the company plans to “lead with strength” going forward.
Internally, WWE Executive Vice President of Television Chris Kaiser has been mentioned as one person who will be stepping up in the wake of Dunn’s retirement. One source described it as Dunn had the “rubber stamp” of approval on decisions, but Kaiser was the one actually “in the trenches” in recent years. It was also noted that Kaiser has been a “big figure” behind the scenes for close to a decade.
As noted, PWInsider first broke the news on December 30 that Kevin Dunn announced his retirement after nearly three decades as an executive with WWE. Dunn was an integral part of shaping how WWE has been presented on television for decades. He also worked closely with Vince McMahon and it was long thought that Dunn would only work for McMahon.
WrestleZone will continue to provide more information as it becomes available.
