WWE Tribute to the Troops undoubtedly holds a special place in Bobby Lashley‘s heart.
SmackDown Superstar Bobby Lashley was a recent guest on The Hot Morning Show. When asked what Tribute to the Troops means to him, Lashley said it’s all about giving back.
“It just means giving back, man. It means giving back. I think a lot of people don’t understand the military. They understand, hey, they keep us free, and they do this. Like, especially this time right now. Growing up with — because my dad was in the Army for 26 years. And my sister was in the Air Force for 20 years. And another sister in the Army for eight years.
“I was in the Army myself. I think what people don’t understand is, before 2006, 2007, I went to Iraq, and I got to visit the troops out there and I had to go to the hospital to visit some of the soldiers that had been wounded. The hard thing for people to understand is these guys are getting pulled away from their family for six months to a year, some even longer. That’s super challenging.
“Being a father, I hate being away from my kids for a few days. And I think most of the society, most of the population, they’re able to see their families on a regular basis. Some of these guys, the sacrifices they have to do to go to other countries and spend some good time away where you get to see your kids on video. You don’t get to hold your kids. Some of those sacrifices we don’t really understand.
“So whenever we have an opportunity to thank those guys that make those sacrifices for us? I’m all for it. And WWE has been doing fantastic in showing how much they care about the troops. We give free tickets away to troops as much as we can everywhere we go. Any chance that we can we give away to the troops, we want them coming to shows. We want to entertain them. We want to do everything that we can for them, and we will continue to do that as long as this business stays afloat.”
