In a surprise move during tonight’s episode of AEW Collision, Billy Gunn seemed to hint at his retirement following a loss in the ring.
Tonight’s episode featured an AEW World Trios Championship match between The House of Black and The Acclaimed & Billy “Daddy Ass” Gunn. In a hard-fought bout, it was the House of Black who would come out on top. However, it was after the match when things would get even more interesting.
Following the loss, Gunn slowly and methodically began unlacing his boots in the ring, while The Acclaimed watched on in surprise. After taking his boots off, Gunn slowly got up and left the ring, moving past The Acclaimed on the ramp without a word.
It’s unclear exactly whether or not the moment was some sort of act by Gunn, but as it stands, he might have wrestled in his last match.
Billy’s sons, Austin and Colten, also commented on the situation. The pair noted that they haven’t been on great terms, but still acknowledged [sic] how impressive their father’s career has been.
“all jokes aside, thank you for everything,” Austin Gunn wrote. “never needed a big send off, never asked for anything, just went out there & had fun and even though we haven’t seen eye to eye recently, we love you @RealBillyGunn”
“we aren’t on the best terms right now but thank you,” Colten added. “no other words need to be said”
