MJF takes a shot at Hiroshi Tanahashi.
On the June 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, NJPW star Hiroshi Tanahashi challenged MJF to a title match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. In a backstage segment, MJF seemingly turned down the bout, but AEW confirmed the match-up for the pay-per-view.
Tanahashi spoke backstage following his win at the NJPW New Japan Road event on June 18, and he repeatedly got MJF’s name wrong as he sent a message to the champion.
MJF then responded by showing a picture that showed internet users’ “interest” in him, compared to that of Tanahashi, over the past 90 days. MJF’s line on the graph was higher than Tanahashi, and the AEW World Champion stated that people know how to spell his name better than Tanahashi’s, which is why he wouldn’t be getting a match.
