Zelina Vega will challenge for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship at WWE Backlash.
Vega and Ripley have been on opposite sides of the feud between The Judgment Day and the Latino World Order in recent weeks, and they have squared off on multiple occasions during matches between their respective factions.
During the April 21 episode of WWE SmackDown, Vega approached WWE official Adam Pearce backstage and made it clear that she wanted to challenge Rhea Ripley for the gold at the premium live event in Puerto Rico. She referenced her budding rivalry with the champion noted that she wanted a shot at the show, as she’s the only Puerto Rican Superstar in WWE’s women’s division.
WWE subsequently confirmed the match, so Ripley will put the title on the line against Vega on May 6.
