Masha Slamovich Says She Thinks That Gender Is Irrelevant In Wrestling

Masha Slamovich discusses intergender wrestling and notes that, like other kinds of competition in the sport, it’s simply a clash between two performers.

Intergender wrestling remains a somewhat controversial topic; while it has become increasingly popular on the independent scene, top companies like WWE and AEW rarely, if ever, showcase it.  Slamovich often competes in intergender matches on the indies; in recent weeks, she has faced Jordynne Grace, Killer Kelly, Jake Something, Davey Vega, and Gringo Loco, among others.

Speaking on The Angle Podcast, Slamovich was asked to share her thoughts on intergender wrestling, and she emphasized that it’s the same as very other kind of combat seen within the sport. She stated that it’s a battle to determine the best competitor. Slamovich also noted that she likes being at the face of intergender wrestling’s resurgence.

“I think that gender is irrelevant in wrestling,” Slamovich said. “I think it’s truly just competitor versus competitor. Better wrestler and worse wrestler, that’s all you can have. I think there’s a lot of people who have a lot of opinions on intergender wrestling that may be incorrect. Speaking to those people to those people after having them watch one of my matches and hearing that I’m able to change their mind about what they thought intergender wrestling was is probably one of the most rewarding experiences.

“I have live to prove people wrong, especially in my favorite type of professional wrestling, which would have to be intergender wrestler. So I’m very happy to be at the forefront of it, and I think it’s no different from any other kind of wrestling.”

Slamovich unsuccessfully challenged Jordynne Grace for the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship at IMPACT Over Drive on November 18.
