Former All Elite Wrestling star Bobby Fish believes Haku is the only legitimate tough guy in wrestling.
On the latest episode of The Undisputed Podcast, Bobby Fish revealed that he believes Haku is the only legitimate tough guy in the history of professional wrestling.
“Legitimate tough guys in the business if I’m up to bat first, there’s only one that stands alone from at least the stories I heard, Haku,” Bobby Fish said. “Haku, Meng, whatever you want to call him from every source of information I got. He was legitimate in every way to the point of, like, potential justifiable homicides. I mean, if somebody — if they’re on his record, they deserved it for sure.
“I actually worked for a few years in New Japan with his sons Tanga Loa and Tama Tonga and was fortunate enough to meet Haku when we did a show in New Zealand, and then encountered him a few times after that, like New Japan would do the Christmas New Year’s Eve show at Tokyo Dome, blah, blah, blah and so like, met him a few times and talk about a sweetheart of a human being. Maybe the nicest human I’ve encountered in all the world. Not just the wrestling business, but the guy that could fold you up like a wet nap if he wants. But yeah, just a total sweetheart. A nice man.”

Haku previously spoke with Wrestling Inc. about his reputation of being a tough guy, explaining that he was just trying to make a name for himself and didn’t actually set out to earn that notoriety.
“My thing is that I am not the toughest, I was just trying to make a name for myself in the business,” Haku said. “Coming in from a third world country, the family is waiting. The island is waiting because we were sent to Japan to represent the country, so the spirit is still there. So, when you represent the country with the way we live in the Sumo world, you are a Samurai, and we came to United States, my goodness, the language… you are trying to run and think about your family and your country and you try to represent them well and you try to send money to the family, those were the biggest things for me. It’s not that I am the toughest, but because I am a protector. A protector of my family, of my country. I had a Samurai mentality, a third-world mentality, who always looked back and never forgot where he came from. It wasn’t because I wanted to be the toughest, but things happened and I am sorry that they happened.”
