The Road Dogg and Billy Gunn sent Terry Funk and Mick Foley careening off a RAW stage inside a dumpster back in 1998, but it was Vince McMahon who buckled up first.
On the latest episode of Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, Road Dogg Brian James revealed to co-host Ryan Katz that Mr. McMahon went for the initail ride before Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie fought one another in singles action.
“Dude, he’s done that so many times,” James said. “The zipline with Shawn Michaels, the jumping off of stuff onto a crash pad. He’s done that so many times to show, ‘I’m not asking you to do something that I wouldn’t do myself.’
“You think what you want to about him man, but he’s a man’s man. He’s an interesting man, you know what I mean?” He added. Katz made mention as to how much this angle was made to look legitimate as possible and Road Dogg was all for that being perpetuated.
“It literally shut the show down,” he said.
“What I remember the most about this part right here is that everybody came out there and kind of surrounded us and Bradshaw really reached over the pile and smacked me in the head and people started kind of getting rough and it kind of made it real.”
“Like nobody was punching anybody in the face or pulling anybody eyes out, but it was like, ‘Hey, there’s some pushing and shoving and pie-facing going on,’ and it made it even more legit and I just remember how wound up I was at the end of that. I wanted to fight, you know what I mean? Like coming out of a ninja movie.”
