Seth Rollins knows that fans deserve to have certain storylines see nods to the past.
WWE RAW star Seth Rollins recently spoke with Claibs Online while on Radio Row at Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles, California. Rollins explained what factored into him entering to The Shield theme for his match against Roman Reigns at last month’s Royal Rumble.
“It was something that was in my mind, obviously anytime you enter a storyline with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns you gotta know the history of The Shield,” explained Rollins. “So, it would’ve been a disservice to our fanbase not to touch on that and the more we touched on it, the more I realized that it really started to bother Roman. There was a piece of him that he hadn’t fully dealt with, there was something in there that he hadn’t touched on, so the more I messed with him, I knew it was a real possibility that it was going to mess with him. Look, the guy’s a super-athlete, he’s got a lot of advantages when it comes to size and strength but when it comes to the mental game of what we do, there’s nobody better than me. So, yeah, it wasn’t necessarily last second call, but it was close to it and luckily St. Louis isn’t far from home so I had some help with it.”
Rollins would delve into why following the birth of he and Becky Lynch’s first child, he decided to make his return with such flashy clothes and gear.
“I was looking at the landscape, I was a new dad, I was off for a couple months, I was having that paternity leave and I was looking at the landscape and I saw all this drab non-sense, we were at the Thunderdome so there were all these screens and no real people and I wanted to bring some life back into wrestling. I want to be a Rick Rude, a Gorgeous George, I wanted to be Ric Flair and I thought, how do we modernize this and bring it to life…and you’re seeing it in the flesh right now.”
