Kamille has risen up in the ranks since capturing the NWA Women’s World Championship last year.
Recently appearing on Face Turn with Candace Cordelia, the NWA Women’s Champion Kamille revealed her favorite matches of 2021, her journey to the NWA, and carrying on the legacy of “The Burke”, which she’s held since last June at When Our Shadows Fall.
When asked about her favorite matches of 2021, Kamille noted that she had two in particular:
“One of them, actually, a lot of people probably didn’t even see because NWA was on FITE Network so it was behind a paywall. It was on the pay-per-view — it was on an NWA Powerrr episode. That was me and Thunder Rosa and it was a 20 minute time draw match. That one just stuck out for me…. for me to go 20 minutes, for most people thinking, “Oh, that’s not a lot,” but for me that was a really big accomplishment being able to show my skills for that long and keep up my wind and do everything like that. That was a special moment for me.
But my favorite match to this day definitely is me and Leyla Hirsch at Empowerrr because the crowd, they were electric and it was just so much fun. I think that was the first time in my wrestling career thus far where I was really feeling it. I was in the moment. I wasn’t overthinking. I was just in the moment doing me and I think that everyone had a great time watching it as well. So, that was a very special match for me.”
Additionally, Kamille went on to explain how she feels about carrying on the legacy of NWA World Women’s Championship, also known as “The Burke”:
“It feels crazy especially for this early in my career to be carrying something [once held by the likes of] Mildred Burke, Jazz, who I don’t think gets enough credit. It’s insane that me, especially as, well I’ve just turned 29, 29-year-old, I’m holding this title and I’m having to really prove what it’s worth. Not only just for me but for the company, the NWA as a whole, to be able to brand it, to be able to show it to new eyes. It’s a lot of pressure, but I do think that I thrive under pressure.”
Kamille continues to reign supreme, and she’ll defend her gold against Taryn Terrell at NWA PowerrrTrip on February 12.
