Powerhouse Hobbs is expecting big things for himself and Team Taz in 2022.
Team Taz member Powerhouse Hobbs was recently a guest on Tuesday Wrestling Tuesday with Jonathan Hood to discuss his time so far in All Elite Wrestling. When asked how he felt about the state of the company, Hobbs believes it’s growing and improving every week.
“The way I personally see it is I think the state of the company is growing every week,” Powerhouse Hobbs said. “Every week we’re improving. Things are changing for the better. So I think AEW is changing the whole wrestling business for the better.”
Hobbs continues to shine in AEW; he’s one of the most remarkable athletes on the company’s stacked roster. With “powerhouse” literally in his name, the buzzworthy star has often been linked to other big men. So it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that, when asked to name his biggest influence in wrestling, Hobbs named Mark Henry and described how the legend is like a “wrestling dad” to him.
“I’ve got a lot. So from the very first time I debuted on AEW til now, I have completely done a 180,” Powerhouse Hobbs admitted. “Everything has changed. Cody Rhodes is a big influence to me. Mark Henry, I tell him that he’s my wrestling dad. I have him in my phone as dad. You got FTR, Arn Anderson, Dustin Rhodes. Obviously, Taz, Billy Gunn, there’s so many people that influence me daily and so many people I can actually call and get advice from, so it’s not just one.”
As Hobbs stated, he has the opportunity to learn from plenty of renowned veterans, so it’s fair to expect his growth as a performer to grow from here on out.
