The December 8 episode of AEW Dynamite featured the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal, and Dante Martin and MJF emerged victorious. As a result, they’ll face off at AEW Winter is Coming on December 15.
The order of eliminations was as follows:

- Matt Hardy (Dante Martin)

- Ricky Starks (Dante Martin)
In one highlight, MJF eliminated his enforcer, Wardlow to prove he’d do whatever it took to win the bout. The match came down to MJF, Dante Martin, and Ricky Starks. Martin and Starks, two members of Team Taz, acted for a moment as if they would join forces, but the former Top Flight star ended up betraying the FTW Champion and throwing him out of the ring. As a result, MJF and Martin won the bout, so they will compete in a singles match for the Dynamite Diamond Ring on AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming.

Following the conclusion of the battle royale, Martin shockingly tore off his Team Tax armband and shook MJF’s hand. Once the leader of The Pinnacle left the ring, Starks attacked Martin because he was furious about the young star’s betrayal. MJF reluctantly ran to the ring to seeming save Martin, but he then helped Starks beat up the fan-favorite star.
Thankfully for Martin, CM Punk — who called MJF out earlier in the night — came running to the ring, prompting MJF to run away before “The Second City Saint” dropped Starks with the Go To Sleep.
Later in the show, AEW also announced a rematch between Hikaru Shida and Serena Deeb for next week’s special episode of AEW Dynamite. The two renowned wrestlers have traded wins in high-profile matches, so they’ll aim to settle the score next Wednesday.

- Dynamite Diamond Ring Match: Dante Martin vs. MJF
- AEW World Championship: Hangman Page (c) vs. Bryan Danielson
