FTR retained the AAA World Tag Team Championships on the November 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, as they took down the duo of Aero Star and Samuray Del Sol. The two luchadores answered the champions’ open challenge and delivered an impressive performance.
Throughout the bout, Samuray, who was once known as Kalisto, showcased the skills that led him to plenty of success in WWE. After he dodged various blows from Cash Wheeler, he hit a huge dropkick coming off the ropes and forced both Wheeler and Dax Harwood to rethink their strategy. For the next several minutes, the contest went back and forth, as the challengers pushed the champions to the limit.
In the closing minutes of the match, Del Sol nearly earned the victory, but Harwood broke up the pin. Wheeler then avoided a diving splash from Samuray and dropped him with a Brainbuster before Aero Star tried to sneakily pin him.
But Wheeler was ready for it, as he quickly pulled Aero Star to the ground and grabbed a fistful of tights to keep him down for the three count. As a result, despite the challengers’ best efforts, FTR emerged with the titles still around their waist.
