Bron Breakker proved his bite was just as big as his bark at as he nearly unseated Tommaso Ciampa to become the new NXT Champion at Halloween Havoc. But “The Blackheart” leaned on his veteran savvy in the ring to hold onto “Goldie.”
Breakker happened to have special guest Chucky on his case all night as the horror movie icon made several references to Bron’s “daddy” and questioned if losers “run in the family.” But once it was time for action, Breakker hung tough with Ciampa, as both fighters split the Capitol Wresting Center as to who the crowd favored.
Ciampa previously laid the groundwork for storytelling, as he said Breakker would drown in a sea of inexperience, and as the match wore on, Breakker began to struggle against the champion’s offense. Still, Breakker charged back up to hit a Frankensteiner and a double underhook powerbomb. He then went for his gorilla press finisher, but Ciampa escaped and planted his opponent with an inverted DDT.

Ciampa firmly turned the momentum in his corner when he DDT’ed Breakker on the open concrete at ringside. A bloody Breakker got back to his feet, only to get nailed with a Fairy-tale Ending, but he somehow kicked out. Several nasty knees to the head and a second Fairytale Ending ultimately put down Breakker for the 1-2-3 and ended his hopes of enjoying a fairy0tale ending on Tuesday night.
