The opening of the forbidden door isn’t limited to All Elite Wrestling, as former TNA/IMPACT Wrestling president Dixie Carter appeared on Ring of Honor programming.
Carter gave a brief message to kick off a special episode of Women’s Division Wednesday, as she wanted to wish the participants in the ROH Women’s Championship Tournament good luck.
“One of the greatest things about my time in wrestling was getting to spend it with the incredibly talented women that wrestled for us every week,” said Carter. “Nothing made me prouder than to see them shine in the main event, carry their own pay-per-view or be the highest-rated segment on television, which they often were.
“And today, women’s wrestling has never been better or stronger. So to all the ladies competing in the Ring of Honor Women’s Championship Tournament, I just wanted to say congratulations and good luck.”
During Carter’s time with TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, the company regularly featured renowned women’s wrestlers like Gail Kim, Awesome Kong, and many more. The Knockouts Divison was arguably years ahead of its time, as TNA gave women’s wrestling a prominent spot on the card years before the Women’s Evolution in WWE.
Billy Corgan succeeded Carter as the president of the promotion in 2016, and she has been largely absent from the world of wrestling ever since.
Later in the broadcast, Allysin Kay defeated Willow in a first-round tournament match.
