The viewership for WWE Friday Night SmackDown dipped somewhat on July 30, possibly due to the show’s head-to-head competition with coverage of the Olympic Games.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reports that 2.043 million viewers watched SmackDown on Friday night, a noticable dip from the 2.137 million viewers the show drew on July 23. The overnight viewership numbers showed a more sizable drop; the initial figure was an average of 1.909 million viewers. But with the final number, SmackDown remains over 2 million.
In the 18 to 49 demographic, SmackDown scored a 0.57 rating, a notable rise from the 0.55 rating on July 23.
This week’s episode featured the confirmation that John Cena will change Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at the SummerSlam pay-per-view. Plus, Sasha Banks returned and teamed up with WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair.
