Serendipity struck NXT last night as Aja Smith officiated a match in which someone special took part in.
Smith, who happens to be WWE’s first full-time female African-American referee, was the woman in stripes for Karrion Kross’ in-ring NXT debut and the opponent he faced in Leon Ruff happens to be Smith’s boyfriend.
“If you would have told me a year ago I’d be a referee, let alone referee my boyfriend’s match on TV, I woulda neverrrr believed it! Life is so cool. @LeonRuffsxe you’re always a winner to me,” Smith Tweeted out.

Ruff felt the “tick tock” of terror as Kross made sure time ran out for his first opponent under the black and gold brand.
