After reaching its crowdfunding goals three years ago, Chikara’s video game debut is finally on the horizon. Dubbed Chikara: Action Arcade Wrestling (or CAWW), the game looks to replicate older Super Nintendo-era wrestling titles. The crowdfunding page specifically invokes names such as Capcom’s Saturday Night SlamMasters and WWF Wrestlefest, and you can see those inspirations in the gameplay showcased in the game’s recently released trailer.
Members of the roster include a wide range of Chikara favorites, ranging from Mike Quakenbush and Fire Ant to Hallowicked and Razerhawk, among many others. Developers VICO Game Studio have announced a target Fall 2019 release date for Chikara: Action Arcade Wrestling, with console ports coming after that. If you want to get in on the action sooner, there will be a closed beta for the game this month, and the developers are accepting signups to play.
