Elimination Chamber 2019 will witness the crowning of the first-ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. We’ll have six tag teams in total – 3 from RAW and 3 from SmackDown Live, competing to become the inaugural champions. Now, we don’t know how the defense of the championships is going to work.
Will it be defended on both brands? How will challengers be decided? Will we see some NXT names get called up so they can challenge for the titles too? It seems with regard to the latter, that it hasn’t fully been decided yet. Either way, many fans feel that the women are long overdue for a tag team championship.
The simple reason for that is a common issue WWE faces with the Women’s division – those outside the title picture are hardly utilized. We’ve seen many mid-card storylines with the women, but the truth is that the women outside the championship picture really don’t have as much to do.
The tag team championship will definitely give them something to do and it’ll likely help form new alliances as well. With more NXT female stars inevitably being set to move up to the main roster, the division will only get more depth as the years go by. But without looking far in the future, let’s take a look at five potential finishes to the Women’s tag team title match.
